2. Sponsor a free Virtual Training event:
Ascending Lights iGraduate Free Virtual Trainings teach volunteer mentors how to help disadvantaged community students to earn their desired degrees with the fewest problems and in the shortest possible time. They are conducted six times a year and cover three critical topics:
➤ Getting the Most from Community College Websites
➤ Community College Majors and Educational Plans
➤ Overcoming Common Obstacles to Community College Success
Experienced members of the Ascending Lights mentoring team conduct the virtual trainings on Zoom and serve as “personal coaches” during the event. The virtual classes are intentionally kept small in order to maximize the personalized coaching. Participants learn how to use the internet and the iGraduate website to assist disadvantaged college students beginning with career decisions and ending with graduation or transfer. Volunteer mentors will also be instructed in the use of the highly effective mentoring tools and procedures that the agency has refined over the last 28 years.
